The first memory I have of myself in a photograph is of me holding a camera taking a picture of my dad who was taking a picture of me (still looking for that pic somewhere in my archives).

Growing up, my time was split between NY and California, eventually graduating from Syracuse University and having the good fortune of spending a year abroad in London and Madrid, where the love of photography took hold.

My photo career started in NYC, but after 9/11 I couldn’t stand still, so it was back to moving around. While my favorite place to be is the ocean, I somehow found all things I didn’t know I needed in the desert of the southwest. I met my wife, and we built a successful restaurant and bar while starting a family and still holding space for photography. Recently we sold the restaurant and bar to focus on simplifying life, spending more time doing the things we love the most…raising our two children and for me, being a photographer.

Maybe it’s because the world doesn’t make a whole lot of sense….or because I moved 36 times in my life before meeting my wife - all I know for certain is that I love the moments that connect and reflect life, the moments when (aware or unaware) the subject connects with my lens and for a brief moment, everything seems as it should be.

As a husband and father first, when the focus does shift to me, instinctively I grab my camera …it gives me balance…. every time. My perfect days are those with my family, my camera, music and a surfboard at the beach. Here my life is 100% complete.

The diversity of my work in music, advertising, beauty, fashion, and documentary has allowed my technique to evolve into a “quiet style of observing” that I like to call my own.

Whether I’m looking in my viewfinder for one of those ‘in between’ moments or I’m right in the thick of it all standing between an artist and their thousands of adoring fans, I love the pulsing of all the energy of life around me.

Always ready for the next adventure.
